How do I book?
Booking is easy. Simply ring any of the following numbers and we will take the details of your booking and let you know if the dates you require are available. If no-one is available because we may be out on rides, please leave a message on our answer phone and we will ring you back shortly.

How much is it?
The price depends on the length of time you wish to cycle for but you may wish to hire your guide for the whole day to explore as much of the woodlands as possible. We offer hourly, half day or daily guide hire rates for groups up to 8 people per guide.

How do I pay?
To confirm your booking you will need to send a cheque within 7 days of booking to the address we will give you at the time of booking or you can make a direct payment into our bank account, again we can give you these details at the time of booking.
How may people can you take in a group?
We can take out up to 8 people per guide on a ride. With several guides available we can cater for larger groups.
What do I need to bring?
A bike helmet that fits for each member of your group - Your guide will not permit you to join the ride without one! Helmets can be hired from the Pedalabikeaway centre where you will meet your guide but these must be booked in advance to ensure availability. Contact Pedalabikeaway on 01594 860065 pedalabikeaway.co.uk. Small change for car parking, bike hire, bike wash and refreshments if required.
  • Clothing suitable for cycling ~ Remember to dress for the weather (for example light waterproofs for wet days that can be packed away and extra warm clothing and gloves for colder days). We strongly suggest that you check the weather forecast before you set off to meet your guide to make sure that you have packed appropriate clothing.
  • Sun cream ~ We suggest you apply sun cream 30 minutes before you are due to cycle but if itís a hot day you may need to reapply sun cream during the day.
  • Glasses (optional) ~ Some people prefer to wear them during the ride to protect their eyes from flying insects etc
  • Rucksack ~ You may want to bring a small cycle friendly rucksack to make carrying your car keys, extra clothing, waterproofs and sun cream a little bit easier. Please note that your guide is required to carry a fully equipped guiding rucksack and therefore will not be able to carry any items for you.
  • Enough water to last your ride ~ This is essential! Remember if itís a hot day you will need to drink more fluid. There is a water point at the bike centre where you meet your guide and they will show you where it is if you need to top up.
Can I hire bikes?
Bike and equipment hire including trailers for children is available at the Pedalabikeaway centre where you will meet your guide but must be pre-booked well in advance to ensure availability. Contact Pedalabikeaway on 01594 860065 pedalabikeaway.co.uk
Do I have to wear a helmet?
The simple answer is yes! Your guide will not permit you to join the ride without one!
Where are the rides based/Where do we meet our Guide?

What happens if I have to cancel my booking?
In the unlikely event that you have to cancel your booking we will refund your money as follows: If you give us over 14 days notice we will refund the whole booking fee amount. Less than 14 days notice and we will refund the booking fee amount less a 10% admin fee. Less than 7 days notice and we will refund your booking fee amount less a 20% admin fee. †
How much notice of cancellation do I have to give?
As soon as you know that you have to cancel please let us know, as we may be able to fill your places. Demand for our guides is high as mountain biking in the Forest of Dean is extremely popular. The more notice you give the more money you will receive back on cancellation.
Is there a charge for car parking?
The current car parking fee at Pedalabikeaway centre where you will meet your guide is approximately £3.50. If you are going to cycle regularly in the Forest of Dean we recommend that you purchase an annual Discovery Pass for £25.00, which will cover your car parking at Pedalabikeaway and many of the other main car parks for attractions in the area. Will refreshments be available?
There is a cafť at Pedalabikeaway where you will meet your guide serving hot and cold food and drinks all day.
Will toilets and showers be available?
Male and female toilets facilities and showers are available at the Pedalabikeaway centre where you will meet your guide. Please note that there is a charge for using the showers.
Is there a bike wash?
Should you wish to wash your bike after your guided ride a jet wash is available for a small charge at Pedalabikeaway. Please note that you are not required to wash any bikes that you have hired from the centre.
Can I bring my dog?
Sorry but our guided rides do not cater for pets. Please leave your pets at home.
Will my Guide be qualified and will they be first aid trained and fully insured?
Absolutely! Your guide will be British Cycling qualified, first aid trained and fully insured for your peace of mind.
What if I have a problem with my bike when I get there?
There is a cycle repair shop at the Pedalabikeaway centre where you will meet your guide but this can get very busy during peak times. We strongly suggest that you check the condition of your bike before you leave to join one of our guided rides. Should you suffer a minor technical hitch with your bike during the guided ride such as a flat tyre, depending on the severity your guide should be able to carry out a temporary repair.
Do I need a bike with suspension?
No but if you have booked one of our more extreme rides then you may find it better to have a bike with suspension but it is not essential.
